Once upon a splash in Mexican waters 🇲🇽,
I stumbled upon a sea floor covered with starfishes.
Glad @elefusato_photography captured this encounter with one of them. Scientists say that there are about 2,000 species of sea stars.
Did you know that in fact they are echinoderms, making them therefore more related to sea urchins than actual fishes, despite their names. With no brains nor blood, starfishes have light-sensitive eye spots at the tips of their arms. That’s some flex!

I watch those stunning and noisy birds everyday, and everyday I am in awe.

For some context, Osa Peninsula covers less than 0.001% of the surface of the globe, yet, it is home to 2.5% of its biodiversity.
