Can I be honest here? 🦈

While swimming with sharks is a breathtaking experience on its own, swimming with a baby shark is truly out of this world.
And since nurse shark don’t mind keeping their distance, let me tell you that I was able to see this one really, really close! I noticed every little detail, and my heart kept on skipping a beat the entire time.

Sharks are truly the best ! 🤩

SHIPWRECK 🌊🏴‍☠️⚓️

There is something incredibly fascinating, yet eerie, about shipwrecks — whether they rest on the ocean floor or up at the surface.
These ruins are a direct testimony of a lost battle between man-made constructions and the power of the sea. They are sunken monuments that prove that the strongest vessel holds no power really when dealing with time and tides.

Take this shipwreck in the Maldives for instance (the Vaavu Shipwreck), couple weeks before my visit it was standing completely differently. But torrential rains and powerful currents caused the wreck to overturn, unveiling new perspectives for exploration. Will it stay forever in this new state? Of course not. And that’s what makes these dives so precious: their fleeting nature.

Nurse sharks doing what?! 🤯

Yup—they are trying to do exactly what you think they are trying to do. This was wild and I felt like I was in a NatGeo documentary having the opportunity to witness this during my time with @kandu

Saying that wildlife encounters are unpredictable is stating THIS.
It’s the fact of not knowing whether wild animals will be there or not plus how they will react to our presence.

Of course in some parts of the world your chances of spotting this or that species may be considerably higher than other, especially when it’s the « right season », yes— but at the same time, it’s never truly 100% guaranteed. Hence why I value each and every encounter I have.

So when two nurse sharks simply decide to try to mate right in front of you, well, this is clearly next level. The underwater world never ceases to amaze me.

Majestic Manta 🥹🥹🇲🇻

In my opinion, manta rays are one of the most magnificent creatures of the underwater world.

For starters, can we talk about their size? Did you know that manta rays can grow to a maximum disc size of 7 m? Though the average size commonly observed is 5 m.

And can we talk also about the way they glide underwater? It’s almost as if they are flying. Truly majestic.

So that day of exploration with @kandu in the Maldives was definitely magical, as it was my first time seeing not one, but 4 in total. Each encounter bringing as many goosebumps as the previous one.

Nature has such a powerful way of leaving you breathless and making you feel alive. I’m all in for that.
